I think I’ve used wallpaper in the last 6 or more projects. I’m telling you, this is not just a passing trend….it’s not only maintaining the rage…it’s growing exponentially. And it is a beautiful and exciting world to discover! So many divine patterns, colours and textures available. Metallics, glass beads, embossed textures or patterns. Once you start visiting showrooms showing various ranges, I’d be very surprised if you don’t get hooked too.
The other thing that I’ve noticed coming out of Europe, the US and top end here is that feature walls are giving way for papering the whole room. And it’s heady stuff….it completely transform a room. And while I love paint and playing with colour, wallpaper definitely takes a room to another level in finish and sophistication. The other thing about wallpaper these days is that it is so much easier to remove! You can peal it off easier than the old days, where you had to get the steamer and scrape every square cm of the wall…..painful, right? Yes, you may need to sand back a bit as the glue may not come off perfectly smoothly, but in my estimation, this is a small price to pay for years of powerful WOW factor!
But, as with any project, get the scheme right overall before you take the leap….get in touch with your inner interior designer and put together a mood board for each room. Take into consideration paint colours, lighting, window and floor treatments as these will all have an impact on the effectiveness of the wallpaper!
Some of my absolute favourite wallpaper cpmpanies are:
omg…so many…if you see one on any of these pages that you just have to have, let me know and I can get pricing and availability for you! So, the short answer is – definitely to wallpaper…but do it well 😉
