Absolutely YES! Rugs on carpet (or layering rugs) is a thing, you know! Heck – even rugs on rugs are a winner in my books! Again, it’s a great way to add more texture, colour etc to a room (which makes it more interesting) and can also ‘zone’ a room to make sense of the space. For eg, in a large open plan area, you would put a large rug in the living room area to spell out that it is indeed the living room area(!).
I particularly love Moroccan style rugs on carpet or hides. Or flat weaves on chunky carpet or chunky knit styles on velour carpet. So many great options….here are few examples:
