I can’t begin to explain how much I love Katie Ridder‘s work. The colour combos are invigorating and exciting and I love the gorgeous textures and details she incorporates into her designs. She also uses high gloss paint (so does Miles Redd) which is not common – it should be used more by designers because it seems to reflect light around the room more (note to self…more gloss!)! She uses grass and silk wallpapers in gorgeous colours and clashes that against curtains, bedheads, rugs and lamps. The overall result is sophisticated and smile-inducing (and there’s just not enough of that in the world!).
I find people are afraid of colour and I can’t figure it out why that is! It’s fun, allows you to reflect who you are and how you feel. Life can be so damn challenging at times and I think if people just had a little more whimsy, humour and colour in their life things would at least feel a little sunnier. So, my philosophy is to inject more life-giving colour into the world (ok…that’s a bit lofty….I’ll just start with my work).
In the meantime, take a tour of Katie’s work (it rocks!)…here’s a teaser of her work!
